INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY Mission To provide opportunities for local, national and international artists and humanists to share their work with the general public throughout New England. To promote understanding and appreciation of cultural differences through multidisciplinary, cross cultural programming in visual arts, performing arts, humanities, and education and through collaborative programming with other organizations. To create an environment for ethnically and culturally diverse visual and performing artists to interact, exchange ideas and experiences, to work together and critique each other's work in constructive ways. The organization was founded in 1980 by cultural leaders in Massachusetts and incorporated as a non-profit organization. Governed by a Board of Trustees and managed by various committees, International Society offers programming in visual arts, theatre arts, music, dance, humanities, and arts education.
