Mission

  1. To provide opportunities for local, national and international artists and humanists to share their work with the general public throughout New England.
  2. To promote understanding and appreciation of cultural differences through multidisciplinary, cross cultural programming in visual arts, performing arts, humanities, and education and through collaborative programming with other organizations.
  3. To create an environment for ethnically and culturally diverse visual and performing artists to interact, exchange ideas and experiences, to work together and critique each other's work in constructive ways.
  4. To facilitate international arts and cultural exchange

History

International Society is the successor of the Chinese Culture Institute which is now a department of the International Society. The organization was founded in 1980 by cultural leaders in Massachusetts and incorporated as a non-profit organization. Governed by a Board of Trustees and managed by various committees, International Society offers programming in visual arts, theatre arts, music, dance, humanities, and arts education.

DIRECTION TO TREMONT THEATRE AND GALLERY

Tremont Theatre is in the Theatre District next to the Wang Center and directly across the street from Tremont House Hotel. The Theatre district neighbors with Chinatown.

By public transportation:

By Green Line--Get off at Boylston Street station and get on Tremont Street. Cross Stuart Street. Pass the Wang Center on left. Total walking time is about 3 minutes.

By Orange Line--Get off at South Cove/New England Medical Center stop. Exit to Tremont Street. Walk for one minute. Tremont Theatre is on the right.

By Car:

From the west--Take the turnpike, exit from "Copley Square Exit" to Stuart Street. Go straight until meet Tremont Street. Turn right onto Tremont Street. Tremont Theatre and Gallery is half a block away on the left.

From the south--Take route 93 to Chinatown. Turn left on Kneeland Street. Drive on Kneeland Street for a few block before crossing Tremont Street. Turn left onto Tremont Street. Tremont Theatre and Gallery is half a block away on the left.

From the north--Take route 93 to Chinatown. Turn right on Kneeland Street. Drive on Kneeland Street for a few block before crossing Tremont Street. Turn left onto Tremont Street. Tremont Theatre and Gallery is half a block away on the left.
