History & Highlights
A review of a number of our TV
porgram, Visual
Arts program, Performing
Arts program in the 1980s and 1990s is given here.
Our art gallery was located at 272 Tremont Street.
It was called China Showcase before 1985. And the
name was changed to CCI Gallelry when we moved to
276 Tremont Street. The new name, Tremont Gallery,
was adopted in 1998.
Seven to ten exhibits have been mounted at the gallery
each year. The Chinese Artists Associated was formed
in 1983. In 1998 the New England International Artists
Association was founded. In 1988 our exhibition featuring
Asian American artists was the first show of its kind
in Boston. In 1990 the program expanded again to include
another annual show, New England Today, featuring
New England's award winning contemporary non Asian
artists.
In 1996 our gallery was opened to all artists of
excellence.
In 1997 we formed CC-New-England Artists Association.
In 2000 the name of the Association was changed to
New England
International Artists Association In
1998 we formally announced to the artists communities
and in the newspapers our exhibition policy of showcasing
African American, Hispanic American, Asian American,
European American artists as well as artists from
Europe and Asia in the Tremont Gallery.
Education Outreach to
Public Schools was started in 1983. It provided
art, music, dance workshops and slide lectures to
25 public schools each year without charge. In 1990
cellist Yo Yo Ma, a Trustee of ours then gave a fundraising
concert to benefit the program.

was started in 1982. It presented annual lecture series
on Chinese art, history and contemporary issues. Renowned

of the same title was published. Forums, panel discussions,
poetry readings, became regular activities since 1996.

Chinese masterpiece plays to Massachusetts. The first
production was Yao Ke's Malice of An Empire translation

annual theatre production since. All our productions
have received wide media coverage, good critical reviews
and warm audience feedback. In 1998 our facility was
totally transformed into a theatre/gallery. Our Theatre
